Keith's Winter Tips
DeLaval Project Manager Keith Marsh says "Don't be caught out - get prepared for winter"
Last winter we received several calls from farmers with issues related to the cold.
We’d like to help you prevent having to call out your service engineer on breakdown this winter. So I’ve prepared a short list which might help your milking machine survive the predicted cold winter
- Drain the water in water pipes daily
- Drain all air-lines daily to prevent buildup of water
- Change exposed steel water/air-lines, where possible to plastic
- Insulate vulnerable pipes, particularly on the joints
- Close any gaps and holes effecting the parlour / office
- Heat parlour and office but avoid hazardous situations
- Take clusters out of park position immediately after cleaning has finished
- Avoid standing water due to risk of slipping
Our dealers have the necessary equipment and will be pleased to try and help you but make sure you have their emergency telephone numbers to hand.
